New Year New Excitement

We are now well into 2011 and it looks to be an exciting year in the world of sports and powerboat racing in particular. The Super Boat International World Championships held in Key West, FL. in November were a huge success and a great time and great venue if you are ever in the Southern most point in the U.S. in early November. Go to www.superboat.com for dates and times of an event near you. The closest SBI race to Chicago is in Michigan City, IN in August.

Exciting news from Offshore Super Series for 2011, they have joined forces with American Power Boat Association to bring offshore powerboat racing back to APBA. APBA is the United States sanctioning body for Union Internationale Motonautique which will allow for UIM racers to gain points at APBA/OSS races. Hopefully we will see more racers make the journey across the pond for some of the bigger U.S. events this year! UIM races are held from late January until late October 2011 in locations such as the UAE, Turkey, UK, and Sweden. The UIM schedule can be found at www.uimpowerboating.com. APBA/OSS schedules can be found at www.apba-racing.com and www.offshoresuperseries.com respectively. There are several APBA races scheduled around the Midwest this summer. OSS races are still being scheduled, but stay tuned for exciting news of regional races and races at more exotic locations.

Travis Lofland the "Deadliest Deckhand" of Discovery Channel, Deadliest Catch fame will be back driving the Time Bandit Offshore Racing 30' Phantom, with Bob Marikowski manning the throttles. Look for a lot of competitive racing and excitement to come from this pair in 2011.
